Marketplace safety
The askJBoss Marketplace connects buyers and sellers near you. Sales happen directly between you and the other person — askJBoss does not hold money or deliver items — so please follow these tips.
If you are buying
- Never pay in advance to someone you have not met, and never pay “delivery” or “clearance” fees to strangers.
- Meet in a busy public place in daytime, and bring someone with you if you can.
- Inspect the item and test it before you pay. For phones, check the IMEI and that it is not locked or reported stolen.
- Check the seller’s rating and reviews, and how long they have been on askJBoss.
- Be careful with prices that are far too low.
If you are selling
- Use your own clear photos and describe the item honestly, including any faults.
- Don’t hand over items before you have received payment; confirm bank transfers in your own banking app, not from a screenshot.
- Mark your item as sold as soon as it is sold.
Not allowed on the Marketplace
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives and fireworks.
- Drugs, prescription-only medicines, and drug equipment.
- Stolen goods, counterfeit or fake brand items, and pirated films, music or software.
- Documents such as IDs, certificates, passports, and SIM cards registered to someone else.
- Wild or endangered animals and their parts; human remains or organs.
- Adult content and services, gambling, and anything else illegal in Nigeria.
Use the Report button on any item or seller that looks wrong. In an emergency, call 112.
