The Manchester United duo of Michael Carrick and Bruno Fernandes have held clear-the-air talks, following the 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.
Fernandes, who is the team’s captain, was left on the bench for the entire match.
The meeting reportedly took place at United’s Carrington training ground on Tuesday, with both men understood to be keen to put recent tensions behind them and focus on improving the team’s results.
According to Fabrizio Romano on X on Wednesday, the discussions were productive, with Carrick and Fernandes committed to moving forward amid mounting pressure over United’s performances.
His post read: “Michael Carrick and captain Bruno Fernandes have met face-to-face to clear the air after Portuguese star was benched for 90 minutes against Bournemouth.
“Bruno, now expected to feature against Chelsea on Saturday.”
The development follows Fernandes’ public criticism of the team’s tactics after the midweek 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como.
Fernandes questioned the coaching staff’s decision not to press opponents man-to-man, arguing that the approach allowed Como to exploit spaces and gain confidence during the match.
