How to Check Your Voter Registration and Collect Your PVC for 2027

Your Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is the only card that lets you vote on 16 January and 6 February 2027. Registration for 2027 closed on 26 July 2026, and INEC started handing out new cards on 9 October 2026. Here is how to check that you are registered, where to collect your card and what to bring.

  2. Search by name or by VINChoose your state and local government, then either enter your last name, first name and full date of birth, or your last name and your Voter Identification Number (VIN — the full number or its last 10 digits).
  3. Read your resultIt shows whether you are registered and where your registration is. Write down your polling unit details.

  • Bring your registration slip or Temporary Voter’s Card (TVC).
  • Go in person — INEC does not give cards to anyone else on your behalf.
  • Check that the name, photo and details on the card are yours before you leave.
  • Ask the INEC staff if your card isn’t found — it may be at the LGA office.

🔁 Lost, damaged or moved?

People who applied for a replacement or transfer during the registration exercise collect their new card the same way. If you lost your card after registration closed, contact your INEC Local Government office or the INEC Citizens Contact Centre — they will tell you what is possible before the elections.

⚠️
Never pay for a PVC

Nobody can sell you a PVC, and you should never sell yours. Buying or selling voter cards is a crime under the Electoral Act. INEC does not charge any fee to collect your card.
