Minnesota Timberwolves player Anthony Edwards has asked a court to place a portion of his child support payments into a trust, raising concerns about his former partner Alexandria Desroches’ online sports gambling.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Edwards said Desroches testified that she had used DraftKings to gamble dozens of times a month during 2025 while arguing that the child support she received was inadequate.
Edwards and Desroches share a son, Amir, who was born in 2023. The basketball player was previously ordered to pay $14,000 a month in child support.
In the documents, Edwards expressed concern that some of the payments could be used for gambling. He asked the court to direct a portion of the support into a trust and appoint a trustee to manage distributions. He also alleged that Desroches had omitted income from her financial disclosures, including cash tips from a second job, and overstated expenses connected with their child.
Desroches opposed the request. In her response, she alleged that Edwards had not sought parenting time with their son, had never met him in person and did not know whether he had sent the child a gift. She acknowledged using DraftKings but said her wagers were approximately $10 and had been “placed out of boredom”. She added that she had since stopped using the account.
Desroches said records showed that her total DraftKings activity had a net of $998.20 for 2025. The report did not specify whether that figure represented a net gain or loss. The claims made by both parties are contained in court filings and have not been established as findings by the court. Edwards recently concluded a separate legal dispute with Ayesha Howard concerning their daughter.
